Kenyan students participate in 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist competition

Six Kenya students participated in the just concluded Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship 2015 held in Texas, USA.

The event that attracted 145 students from 46 countries saw the students from Northpole College raise high the Kenyan flag when Jatinkumar Waghela was listed in the Top 10 worldwide rankings in the Excel 2013 category.

The six students from Kenya were Miral Notariya (Word 2010), Rajesh Khetiya (Excel® 2010), Roocha Thakkar (PowerPoint® 2010), Felistas Mbugua (Word 2013), Jatinkumar Waghela (Excel® 2013) and Sanagavarapu Sudhanshu (PowerPoint® 2013).

In its 14th year, the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship has so far attracted more than 800,000 unique candidates from 127 countries who have demonstrated their mastery of applying Microsoft Office products.

“More than three million individuals have now taken a Microsoft Office Specialist exam worldwide to validate their skills, so these winners are truly the best of the best,” said Mr Kiptalam.

Mr Kiptalam said the experience ensures students are career ready by providing 21st-century technology training and certification in keeping with global technology trends.

“It is sustainable in that it provides a framework for long-term success to be globally competitive in matters ICT,” he said.
