MADURAI: The Mini Cooper, which is a rare sight in the city, received quite a lot of admirers at the auto expo organised by the Times of India in the city, which kick-started here on Saturday. Launched by the BMW, the car was the cynosure of all eyes, with visitors eager to click pictures with the model.
The fourth edition of the Times of India auto expo in the city turned out to be a crowd puller.
Visitors, who began to arrive at the Raja Muthiah Mandram where the event was held from morning itself, grew in number towards the evening. More than 200 registered visitors came in during the afternoon.
A multi utility vehicle (MUV) manufactured by Multix, which can be used as a load vehicle and also for power generation, was one of the most unique vehicles on display at the event. Major brands like Benz, Volvo, BMW, Mini Cooper, Honda Cars, Fiat, Volkwagen and Skoda put up stalls and displayed some of their latest models. Several two-wheeler models were also kept on display.
Cars for low and high-budget prices were available. Around 50% to 60% of the crowd thronged the Maruti Suzuki stall for enquiries. Apart from this, Maruti driving school also put up a canopy that offered attractive discounts to the people.
