Salcombe fisherman's body found in water

A man's body has been recovered from the water near Salcombe in Devon by emergency services.

The man, named by police as Gary Steere, from Kingsbridge, had gone fishing on Thursday and his family raised the alarm at midnight.

Salcombe lifeboat found his body near Gara Rock at 03:26 BST.

Kingsbridge Police offered "sincere condolences to Gary's family" and added: "Gary was a popular local man who will be very much missed."

Police are treating the incident as non-suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
