Civil-military leadership on same page: Qayyum

CHAKWAL: Chairman Senate Committee on Defence Production Lt Gen (R) Abdul Qayyum said that civil and military leadership is on same page and this is the real thing in the history of Pakistan. He added that USA has admitted that 70 per cent terrorist activities in Pakistan have been reduced and economic situation of the country is also improving.


He said Economic Corridor will be a game changer in the region and Pakistan has started a big take off in this regard and anti Pakistan forces were also active to destabilize this project. He was talking to the media after having a briefing on the UET Chakwal Campus at village Balkasar. Acting Vice Chancellor UET Dr Mehmood Chaudary briefed that 940 kanal land has been acquired and now HEC has approved 944 million rupees for establishing Petro Chemical Engineering but funds so far have not been released.


Executive Director of HEC Dr Raza Bhatti was confident that the funds will be released and UET Chakwal campus is approachable with motorway. 
Chakwal Campus has the potential to accommodate all six engineering departments required for full fledge university of engineering. Gen Abdul Qayyum speaking on this occasion was confident that Chakwal district has the literacy rate of more than 84 percent but unfortunately lack facility of technical and other university.


Later on Abdul Qayyum also inaugurated the government technical College of Thoa Bahadur, which was completed with the cost of more than Rs 220 millions. The speakers paid rich tribute to Gen Abdul Qayyum and they acknowledged the services because due to his effort classes of technical college have started for more than 400 students in different engineering departments.


Qayyum speaking on this occasion assured that all facilities will be provided to establish this technical institution as a role model in the whole region. He also visited government Post Graduate College Chakwal and UET Chakwal campus.
