There should be a speed breaker before a pedestrian crossing, so that vehicles will anyway have to slow down. There should also be a signal for pedestrian crossings.

Our roads are certainly not pedestrian-friendly. The zebra-cross marking are lacking in most intersections. Installing guard railings along the footpath will keep vehicles away. It will also ensure free movement and safety of pedestrians.

First of all, sidewalks and pavements are non-existent in India. Even if there is one, it is full of potholes. It becomes hazardous during the monsoon. Government should not only build pavements but also maintain them properly.
