KEEP GANESHA IDOL FOR LUCK AND PROSPERITY

The name Ganesha stands for wisdom and intellect (where ‘Ga’ stands for wisdom and ‘na’ for intellect). Lord Ganesha is a god of multitude; every Hindu begins his/her work by taking his name first. Ganesha’s name is always taken before any other god’s name. Be it buying a new house or starting a new business invoking the elephant-headed god’s name is a prerequisite.

Even in Vaastu Shastra, it is suggested to keep a Ganesha idol at home. Accordingly, Ganesha idol should be installed at the entrance of the house as it is suppose to bring prosperity to the house and its inmates. But it is also suggested that we should always install two Ganesha idols backing each other as it is believed that poverty resides behind his back and if you install a Ganesha idol at the entrance of your house with his back to your house and you wouldn’t want poverty in your house.

In a similar way, if you are planning to get a Ganpati idol at home make sure it’s always backing an outside wall and not a wall separating two rooms, same rules goes with paintings or portraits as well. It is said that Vinayaka is always accompanied by his two wives Riddhi (prosperity) and Siddhi (knowledge), so it is always better to have an idol or a painting with both Riddhi and Siddhi in it.

It is best if the Ganesha is facing north side as that direction is Lord Shiva’s (Ganesha’s father) direction and it is believed that Gajanan is happy when he is facing north direction. It is indeed very lucky to keep a Ganesha idol at home or at your workplace not only does it embellish the place but also attracts positive vibes wherever it is kept. Ganesha also known as ‘Vighnaharta’ is said to help us overcome any obstacles in the house or at workplace.

Many people whose income depends upon their intellect are suppose to keep Ganesha idol at home or at their offices since Ganpati is suppose to bring in knowledge and prosperity and its also believed that Ganesha grants good fortunes to his devotees.

Apart from Hindus, those belonging to other religions can also keep Ganesha idol at home for good fortune but you have to ensure it is respected by all the members of the family. One last thing that we are supposed to keep in mind is to keep the place and the surrounding where you place the Ganpati idol clean.

THINGS TO AVOID
While buying a Ganpati idol or a painting always check that his trunk is on the left side and not on the right side. As left side of our body is considered feminine side which is calm, composed and relaxed while the right side is considered to be the masculine side which is more fiery and aggressive.

It is most imperative to note that Lord Ganesha’s idol or image should be without any blemish. Any cracks, cuts or spoilage is said to fetch misfortune with there being innumerable instances of devotees vouching for the same.
