My first shot was a good omen: Swathy
Swathy Narayanan is on cloud nine as she makes her debut as a heroine with Ranjith Sankar’s Jayasurya starrer, Su… Su…Sudhi Vaathmeekam.
The pretty girl had briefly made an appearance long back in the Vinayan movie Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum, playing actress Kaveri’s childhood role in a song. She has just wrapped up her portions for her new film and shares her experiences with Kochi Times.
“It’s actress Asha Sharath who recommended me to Ranjith Sankar for this role. I play a Mumbai girl, who is traditional and rooted as many in Kerala. What happens when my character meets Jayasurya forms the rest of the story,” says Swathy, who has tried her hands at anchoring as well.
Her first scene shot for the movie was a song sequence, in which she was made to stand in front of a temple. “I consider that as a good omen and feel blessed. On the second day, however, I was asked to do a serious scene and both the team and I were quite nervous. Thanks to the team’s patience and support, I could deliver it well within sometime, and that acted as a confidence booster,” she says. Swathy remembers Jayasurya helping her scene after scene, and is still wonderstruck about how he transforms just as the director calls ‘action.’ “He would crack up everyone on the set with his jokes but would become the character once in front of the camera, while I continue to giggle at his jokes while giving shots,” recalls Swathy.
Also a dancer, she has been learning Kuchipudi from the age of four. The youngster is hopeful that quality roles come her way in the future, just as her debut.
