Authorities take charge: Khan Broast sealed

Empress Market was also raided by District South authorities

KARACHI: District Central deputy commissioner Afzal Zaidi raided and sealed a famous eatery in Federal B Area, Khan Broast. “We had received complaints that the eatery was serving substandard food and was kept in unhygienic conditions,” said Zaidi. People reported that the chicken was not washed properly before cooking food items, he claimed. Khan Broast will remain closed for an undefined period of time, he said. Zaidi said he has raided several restaurants that fall under his jurisdiction but not sealed any of them. Empress Market was also raided by District South authorities. “We arrested two people during the raid,” said commissioner Salim Rajput. The administration seized 100 maunds of meat and sealed the meat zone. The raid was conducted on the reports of rotten meat, said an official.
