Mumbai cops nab man over bomb hoax at Goregaon club

On Tuesday, the Mumbai police control room received a call that a blast would occur at Goregaon Sports Complex. A police team immediately initiated a probe and traced the caller, who was working in the housekeeping department of GSC. The probe revealed that security officials did not allow the accused to take plastic wastes from the complex. To teach them a lesson he made a hoax call.

The arrested person has been identified as Majid Kasam Shaikh, 30, a resident of New Collector Compound, Malwani in Malad (West).

According to police, a phone call was received by the main control room of Mumbai police about a bomb at the Goregaon club. The police team immediately conducted checks and realised the call was a hoax.

A complaint was then lodged with the Azad Maidan police under section 505 (1) (B) against an unknown prank caller with intent to cause, or which is likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public of Indian Penal Code.

"Kandivali unit of crime branch with the help of technical intelligence managed to trace the culprit," said deputy commissioner of police, detection, Dhananjay Kulkarni.

Shaikh told the police that security officials at the complex did not allow him to collect plastic waste from inside the club area and to teach them a lesson he made the hoax call.
