KARACHI: Three persons were killed and two others injured in different incidents of violence in the metropolis on Friday. A man, Faiz Muhammad, aged about 45, was shot and injured by unidentified gunmen near Nipa Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries while being operated upon. Separately, the body of a man bearing torture marks was recovered from Ibrahim Haidery in Korangi. It was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. According to rescue sources, a six-day-old decomposing body of an unidentified man was found in a house in Katchi Para in the jurisdiction of Mochko police. It was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for a post-mortem. Separately, a boy, Salman, 18, son of Haq Nawaz, was shot and injured in an armed clash in Massala Street in Gul-e-Ahmad area of Landhi. He was rushed to JPMC for treatment. A young woman, Zeenat, 25, daughter of Fayyaz, was injured by stray bullets in Dubai Chowk, Lyari. She was shifted to CHK for treatment. Remand: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday handed over two suspects, Mirza Zeeshan Baig and Tanveer Ahmed alias Tanoo Bihari, to Rangers for 90 days. The personnel of Sindh Rangers, along with their counsel, produced the suspects before the court amid tight security. According to the Rangers, the suspects were wanted for interrogation over their alleged involvement in target killings, extortion and other offences that come within the ambit of Anti-Terrorism Act. The court allowed the paramilitary force to detain the suspects for 90 days for interrogation, considering legal provisions under Section 11EEEE (1) of the ATA. Sources said that Mirza Zeeshan was allegedly involved in the assassination of 20 people, while Tanveer alias Bihari was wanted to police in 15 murder cases. Both the suspects belonged to a political party. Accidents: Meanwhile, five people were killed and nine others injured in different accidents in the metropolis. A woman, Bano, 42, wife of Aziz, was killed and four others – five-year-old Abida, Asif, 12, Hafeez, 30, and a woman were injured when their Suzuki van collided with a truck near Ganna Mandi in Sohrab Goth. The body and the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. A man, aged about 35, died when a trailer-truck hit his motorcycle in Port Qasim Morr. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. A man, Sadaqat Hussain, 40, son of Manzar Hussain, died when a vehicle hit him in Korangi. The body was shifted to the Sindh Government Hospital Korangi. A boy, Shair Khan, 16, son of Saadullah, was electrocuted near his house in Qaimkhani Colony in Baldia Town. The body was shifted to Murshid Hospital Orangi for an autopsy. A man, Ameerullah, 45, was electrocuted when an electric wire fell on him in Chanesar Goth in Mahmoodabad. The body was shifted to JPMC for a post-mortem. A youth, Sadiqain, 24, was injured when a speeding vehicle hit him near Babar Market in Landhi. He was rushed to JPMC for treatment. A man, Ameer, 40, son of Raees, was injured when a speeding vehicle hit him near Godam Chowrangi in Korangi. He was also brought to JPMC for treatment. A woman, Kaneez, 40, wife of Ghulam Abbas, was injured when a vehicle hit her in front of the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Clifton. She was taken to JPMC for treatment. In another mishap, a six-year-old girl, Tahira, a resident of Lines area, was injured when she fell from a motorcycle near Gora Qubristan in Shahra-e-Faisal. She was brought to JPMC for treatment. A man, Irfan, 35, son of Bashir, a resident of Shah Faisal Colony, was injured when his bike was hit by a vehicle near Millennium Mall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. He was rushed to JPMC for treatment.
