Tree branch damages State Police SUV outside Baker’s house

A large tree branch fell on a State Police vehicle outside Governor Charlie Baker’s Swampscott home Friday night, but no one was injured, officials said.

The tree limb fell at 8:30 p.m. on a State Police Ford Explorer occupied by a trooper on security detail outside the house, shattering its rear window, according to spokesman David Procopio.

Baker was not home at the time and the trooper was not injured, Procopio said. The road was briefly closed after the incident, he said.
