RX Soori explores an underworld love story

Duniya Vijay’s latest underworld offering, RX Soori, produced by Suresh Arts, releases today. The film, say the makers, is the retelling of the enmity between real-life gangsters Suryanarayana Reddy, aka Suri, and Paritala Ravi, with Vijay playing Suri, and P Ravi Shankar in the role of the latter. But just because it is the story of two gangsters, RX Soori is not just about gory violence, says debutant director Shree Jai.“There is a very beautiful love story as well in the tale,” he says. Here, the cast of the film tells us what audiences can look out for.... l The film is, no doubt, an action caper, and will see Vijay in many high-octane stunt sequences, some of which were very risky to execute. “I can’t afford to use a stunt double or not attempt daredevil action, as audiences expect ‘real stuff’ from me. I sustained several injuries during the making of this film, but the effort was worth it,” says Vijay. l Newbie Akankshaa plays Vijay’s love interest in the film. “Every romantic relationship has its share of ups and downs, and they are heightened in a gangster set-up. This makes for interesting watching,” says the actress. l Vijay and Ravi Shankar will be seen onscreen together for the first time, a pairing in which they play equally matched characters. “Vijay is an action star and I am known for my powerful dialogues. Together that makes for a deadly combination,”says Ravi Shankar.
