XAVIER RUDD AND THE UNITED NATIONS
Friday, September 4, Enmore Theatre, ticketek.com.au

The Aussie multi-instrumentalist has made a name for himself on the international festival circuit, but he brought it back home this year with a rousing set at Splendour in the Grass. Here's a chance to catch Xavier Rudd indoors, at night and in full-band mode. Expect plenty off the group's first record, Nanna. Tickets $65.80.

A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS
Saturday, September 5, Manning Bar, oztix.com.au

With a fitting reputation as the loudest band in New York, raucous noisemakers A Place to Bury Strangers have caused more than their share of ringing ears on previous tours. The band will be testing out Manning Bar's PA on this quick tour. Not for the fainthearted – or those scared of strobes. Tickets $44.

THE SMITH STREET BAND
Wednesday, September 9, Manning Bar, oztix.com.au

The hard-working Smith Street Band have been killing it in the US and Europe, but what makes their success particularly pleasing is their ability to also coax international tour friends down here. This time out, they're joined by Phoenix's Andrew Jackson Jihad and Ohio's the Sidekicks. Much of the tour is sold out but tickets are available to this one, for $30.

IRON CHIC
Thursday, September 10, Newtown Social Club, newtownsc.ticketscout.com.au

In a big week for lovers of folk and punk, Long Island favourites Iron Chic make their way to Australia. While this line-up recently lost Philadelphia emo kids Modern Baseball due to health issues, Iron Chic are mighty enough to hold their own here. Head down early to catch the excellent Postblue and Sweater Season. Tickets $33.

JOSHUA RADIN
Thursday, September 10, the Metro, ticketek.com.au

The acoustic-folk crowd-pleaser may not be a household name, but he's had so many tunes on TV shows that you'd probably know of those more than him. He'll be playing quite a few of them at his one Sydney show on this tour. Tickets are $65.25, while for $100 more, fans can take part in a meet-and-greet.
