Buyers can also book the Kwid via the free Renault Kwid app on Google Play Store with a booking amount of INR 5,000.
Renault also promises the lowest cost of maintenance and spares, a 2 year/50,000 km warranty, along with free roadside assistance for 2 years, sweetening the deal further.
The KWID
Concocted at an investment of around INR 3000 Crore, the KWID will be the first Renault-Nissan Alliance model to use the duo’s extremely flexible CMF-A platform, and will be manufactured in Oragadam (Tamil Nadu). A high localization content of 98%, a record by any foreign manufacturer in India, allows Renault India to aggressively price the KWID.
Renault KWID Engine
The Renault KWID will be powered by an all-new, BR-8, DOHC aluminium engine, all of 3 cylinders and displacing 799 cc. The relatively uncomplicated, compact engine, developed by Renault-Nissan’s technical centre at Chennai will have a power output of 57 bhp, while maximum torque is rated at 72 Nm; making it the most powerful vehicle in its class.
Renault KWID Fuel Efficiency
Fuel efficiency will also be class leading, as the KWID will deliver as much as 25 kmpl, as compared to the Maruti Alto 800’s 21.38 kmpl, and the Hyundai Eon’s 21.1 kmpl. No diesel engine option will be available at launch, although there are reports of a bigger, 1.0-litre petrol engine in the works. Power will be sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission, while the possibility of an AMT also exists.
Renualt KWID Interiors
The interiors of the Renault KWID will feature a couple of segment first features, which include a seven-inch (18 cm) touch-screen equipped Media-Nav multimedia/navigation system housed in the piano black finished center console, and a fully digital instrument cluster.
The Kwid is 3679mm long, 1579mm wide and 1471mm tall, making it bigger than both the Alto and the Eon. A 2422 mm wheelbase allows the Kwid to have the most spacious cabin in its class . Boot space, at 300 litres will be the largest in its segment, as compared to the Hyundai Eon’s 215 litres and Maruti Alto 800’s 177 litres.
Renault KWID Exteriors
The KWID will be armed with “SUV styling” on the outside, which refers to the mini-SUV like appearance; chunky wheel arch trim, cladding on the rear bumper, side strips and a relatively high ground clearance of 180 mm add to the cause. The overall styling features significant inputs from Renault Design India’s Mumbai center.
Renault KWID Variants
The KWID will be available in 4 variants, with the no-frills, basic variant dubbed the STD or Standard (see spy pics here) getting unpainted bumpers, exposed steel wheels and no side strips.
The top-end variant RXT variants will get features like the aforementioned Media Nav infotainment system, front power windows, central locking, colour coded fabric seats and electric mirrors. The RXT (O) benefits from a driver side air-bag. Renault can further deck up your Kwid with as many as six customization packs right from the dealership.
I am looking forward to 1 liter petrol engine of kwid with same mileage of 799 cc kwid at the same price or may be lower than 3.5 lakh for RXT MODEL.
