Krishna Shah’s wildly entertaining Shalimar (1978) has a Bengaluru connect. “Oh yes, we shot extensively in Bangalore,” says Zeenat Aman over the phone. “I was in Bangalore for over 35 days.” The sultry siren played Sheila Enders, Sir John Locksley’s (Rex Harrison) nurse. Zeenat will be in town on Saturday when she and another Bollywood diva, Asha Parekh, share the stage for Maam Entertainment’s The Rendezvous. The programme, where the two leading ladies will share reminiscences, will feature their favourite songs by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Indian Idol winners. Zeenat and Asha will be in conversation with filmmaker Brahmanand Singh.
Not a great one for nostalgia, Zeenat says, “I believe in the here and now.” For the retrospective, Zeenat says she will “have to dig deep and hard. When I say I don’t believe in nostalgia, I mean I don’t look back, I don’t live in the past. I believe life is a journey and I have had a wonderful one. I celebrate the life I had and the life I am having.”
The Rendezvous is at 6.30 pm on September 5 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Malleswaram. Tickets are available on www.bookmyshow.com, www.indianstage.in and are also available at Calypso, Jayanagar 4th Block.
