Football: Bhutan will face Qatar at 10pm BST today at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Despite poor recent records with Kuwait and Cambodia the boys are confident, at least to put up a good fight against the group favourite.

“We will correct our mistakes. We are a much stronger team today,” said Karun Gurung.

Goalie Tshering Dendup said that Bhutan has some talented players individually, “but football is not won individually. We need to play as a team and win as a team.”

After a 10-day training in Kuwait, the boys have been able to adjust to the climate of the Middle East.

“Its not very hot here,” said Dhan Bdr Biswa. “The Kuwait sessions really helped.”

At the per-match press conference yesterday, Bhutan’s coach Norio Tsukitate said that the team has undergone sufficient training.

“Qatar is a strong team. We’ll do our best to deliver quality play in the match,” said Norio. “We’ll play our best football today.”

Qatar’s coach Jose Daniel Carreno said that small teams often are capable of delivering some shockers. Qatar, he said, will aim for early score.

“It’s not going to be an easy match. We’ve prepared well for this game,” said Carreno. “I’ve seen Bhutan’s pervious games. I think they have got some talents there. However, I have also seen their weaknesses.”
