Tata, Ford and Volkswagen Car Sales Report for August 2015

After Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Mahindra, and Toyota revealed their sales figures for August 2015, the same has been shared by Tata Motors, Ford India and Volkswagen India.

Passenger vehicle sales during August 2015 consisting of cars, vans and utility vehicles saw an increase by 8% during August 2015. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai sales increased by 8.6% and 20% respectively, sales of Toyota and Tata Motors were in single digits while sales of both Honda Cars and Mahindra saw a sharp decline.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen sales in August 2015 stood at 4,191 units up from 4,007 units in August 2014. This was VW India’s seventh successive month registering growth in sales, while year to date sales have increased by 17%, as compared to same period in 2014. Volkswagen India kick started the festive season with special Onam discounts in Kerala. Similar offers are expected to be offered across India during the approaching Diwali festive season.

Tata Motors

The new trio of Tata Nano GenX, Bolt and Zest have not had an expected impact on sales.

Tata Motors sales in August 2015 reached a total of 40,680 units (including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and exports). Tata Motors passenger vehicle sales in August 2015 stood at 11,194 units, up 2% as compared to 10,975 units sold in August 2014. Total exports of the company in August 2015 were at 5,202 units, an increase of 16% over 4,480 units exported in August 2014. Commercial vehicles reported a decline of 4%, registering sales of 24,284 units.

Ford

Ford India domestic sales in August 2015 were up 22.49% with a total of 8,331 units sold during the month as against 6,801 units sold in August 2014. It was the Figo Aspire compact sedan that contributed significantly to increased sales. Combined domestic wholesales and exports of the company stood at 21,520 units in August 2015 as compared to 14,092 units sold in the same month of the previous year resulting in an increase of 53%.
