The conference of Tamizhaga Manavar Sangam, the students’ wing of Pattali Makkal Katchi, sought changes in the education system in the state on par with CBSE. A resolution was passed in this connection at the conference addressed by PMK leader and party’s chief ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Anbumani Ramadoss said that while all political parties, except the AIADMK, demanding total prohibition, it is the only State Government in the world that functions with the revenue of selling liquor.

He exhorted the students to bring about a change in the State.

“Other States in the country get revenue of 3 per cent to 5 per cent by selling liquor. But Tamil Nadu gets 33 per cent revenue every year by selling liquor”, he said.

He said that the Rs. 24,000-crore power plant at Ramanathapuram, announced by the Chief Minister, could be operational only in 2027 and said that only two to three per cent of schemes announced under Rule 110 were implemented in the past four years.

He said that Tamil Nadu is the only State in the country where one can get their degrees without learning their mother tongue and said that the quality of Samacheer Kalvi is very poor. “Of the total 9,000 candidates who were selected for the final interview for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), only five candidates were from the State,” he said Resolutions passed during the conference include, compulsory and free education system with mandatory sports periods everyday in schools.
