The bid is now open to Pacific Islands Development Forum member countries to host next year’s summit.

The acting PIDF secretary-general, Amena Yauvoli,  said the announcement was made by the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama during the PIDF Executive Board meeting on Tuesday before the welcome ceremony.

Mr Yauvoli said the PIDF meeting was on schedule and he was glad with the contributions made in all sessions.

The meeting, he said, would end tomorrow with the promulgation of the PIDF Charter, that would formally establish PIDF as an international organisation.

They would also formulate the Suva Declaration on Climate Change, which would be a key message for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference – COP21.

Papua New Guinea’s Minister for Public Enterprises and State Investment  Ben Micah has returned to PNG to prepare for the Pacific Islands Forum next week.
