Montreal:
A former Canadian medical student facing charges for allegedly threatening to kill the dean and her daughter also planned to go on a suicidal rampage and kill 10 to 20 others, local media reported Wednesday.
The 30-year-old had told his psychiatrist, who in turn alerted police, of his plans in mid-August.
According to police documents obtained by the Halifax Chronicle Herald, the suspect told his doctor "he would find a gun and kill 10 to 20 people and then himself... (and then) left her office in an agitated state."
A police raid of his home uncovered a stash of weapons including a Russian SKS rifle, a Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle and more than 1,800 rounds of ammunition.
The man, who previously had been arrested for killing a cat, is coincidentally the second student at Dalhousie University to be arrested by federal police.
A 22-year-old varsity athlete who was to start medical classes this week is on trial for murdering another student, in an unrelated case.
The 30-year-old is expected to make a court appearance on September 15.
