Gloucestershire Eco Park and stadium plans on display

Designs for an "Eco Park" and football stadium for Forest Green Rovers have gone on public display.

Ecotricity has announced a proposal to turn 100-acres of land (40 hectares) beside the M5 near Stroud into a green technology centre and sports area.

The green energy firm said three drop-in sessions would allow people to help inform and improve the proposal.

Forest Green's current home, The New Lawn Stadium, is holding the first session until 19:30 BST.

Eastington Village Hall is hosting a second session on Thursday from 12:00-19:30 BST and the proposal can also be seen at Unicorn House in Stroud on Tuesday 8 September from 12:00-19:30 BST.

The founder of Ecotricity, Dale Vince, is also the chairman of Forest Green Rovers, currently top of the National League.

He is keen to explore the idea of relocating Forest Green seven miles (11km) from its current stadium in Nailsworth to junction 13 of the M5.

The firm and football club would look to spend some £100m on the stadium and further sports facilities such as training fields, indoor 4G pitches and a sports science hub.
