Not surprised."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief of the Police Criminal Detective Agency (Bareskrim) Comr.Gen. Budi Waseso said he was not surprised by the rumor about his dismissal or replacement.

"Not surprised. I heard the rumors from reporters. In police or the military transfer of duty is normal," Budi Waseso said here on Wednesday.

The police chief detective said he continues to work as usual handling legal cases, adding there are still big corruption cases involving trillions of rupiahs that need attending.

Meanwhile, director of special economic crimes of the Bareskrim Brig.Gen. Victor Simanjutak said replacement of Budi Waseso is feared to cause a drag on the process of investigations of a number of big corruption cases.

Victor said investigators could be discouraged in carrying out their duty for fear that unveiling a crime could result in their dismissal.

Bareskirm has been criticized for recent police raiding the office of the office of the state owned port operator Pelindo II over alleged corruption in the procurement of cranes.

Victor said investigations of corruption case like one involving Pertamina Foundation, dwelling time case, and mobile crane procurement by Pelindo would need a situation of peacefulness.

"Investigators need to be able to work quietly . They should not be bothered by issues like this. Bareskrim investigators are now in a high working spirit under a leader with high working spirit.

"I am afraid it would be step backward if such leader is to be replaced when he is working on big cases," he said.

He said Bareskrim has chalked up concrete prestige citing trillions of rupiahs worth of state fund being saved in the condensate embezzlement case involving PT Trans Pacifik Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI).

"We have settled the case of TPPI, which previously was untouchable. Where was the state so far?, and shall we back down again and give up after what we have done?" he said.

Victor said he suspected there is a big scenario being played behind the dismissal rumor of Budi Waseso.

"I dont know if this is only a threat or psy-war. But if that is true it would be a backtracking and a threat to law enforcement," he said.

Meanwhile Richard Joost Lino, the president of the Pelindo II feeling insulted by the police raid threatened to tender his resignation.

Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla asked police for clearance of the charge against Pelindo that necessitated the raid.

Jusuf Kalla warned administrative or policy mistakes or failure should not be criminalized.

Earlier Cabinet secretary Pramono Anung also said President Joko Widodo had asked the law enforcement agencies not to criminalize administrative mistakes.

Criminalization of administrative mistakes would spread fear among the officials especially in the regions in implementing projects financed with state budget.

Such fear had been attributed the countrys economic slow down in the first half of the year with economic growth of only 4.7 percent.

Poor performance in the implementation of projects finance with the state budget resulting in big shortfall in government spending and economic slowdown.
