AAP criticises Centre for failing to take Capt. Kalia case to ICJ

New Delhi, Sept. 2 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday criticised the Centre for not taking Captain Saurabh Kalia’s case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), saying the BJP has been thoroughly exposed on the issue of nationalism.

” BJP is thoroughly exposed on issue of nationalism. They can no longer claim themselves to be a nationalist force. If Captain Kalia’s family doesn’t get justice here, where will they get it?” AAP leader Ashutosh told ANI here.

“Last time, when this issue of Capt. Kaliya came up, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj promised the nation justice for Captain Kalia’s family by moving his case to the ICJ, but she did not keep her words,” he added.

AAP leader Ashutosh accused Swaraj of being an opportunist for failing to provide justice to the people who gave their lives for the nation.

He also expressed his grief for the family of Captain Kalia, saying that if the family does not get justice, he would not know what to say.

On Tuesday, the Centre told the Supreme Court that the issue of Captain Saurabh Kalia and 54 Indian defence personnel languishing in Pakistani jails since the 1965 and 1971 wars could not be taken to the ICJ.

The apex court was told that under the Geneva Convention, acts of aggression and hostilities between two countries could not be raised at the ICJ to which India was a signatory. (ANI)
