Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 01, 2015 -- NELSON, a global design, architecture, engineering, and consulting services firm, completed the interior design of The Tie Bar’s headquarters in downtown Chicago’s up-and-coming, industrial Fulton Market. The retailer made the decision to move staff from its suburban warehouse location late last year. At 6,000 square feet, the space retains the urban industrial aesthetic of the neighborhood with exposed brick and timber which provides a contrast for the refined sophistication that defines The Tie Bar’s product line.
“After a series of test-fits in different locations, we settled upon a vintage brick and timber loft that supported The Tie Bar’s distinctive brand,” said Jason Rosenblatt, LEED® AP, NCIDQ, Design Director for NELSON. “We charetted with the team in-person and collaborated virtually over social media to find inspiration and explore design concepts for the project. We settled on architectural finishes that are raw, natural, and tactile, forming a complementary background palette that brings forward the color and refinement of The Tie Bar’s merchandise. There are special details throughout the space such as: conference room sliding doors clad in recycled leather belts, a rolling library ladder, stained plywood flooring, salvaged light fixtures, and a grid of galvanized unistrut power-poles that allow flexible furniture reconfiguration in the open office.”
Upon arrival, a lounge/café welcomes guests, provides refreshment, and displays The Tie Bar’s vibrant ties, pocket squares, belts, and cufflinks. The new location is warm, relaxed, and textural. A deconstructed barn wood display wall separates the lounge/café from the neighboring open office. The space is completed with various meeting rooms, studio spaces, and locally made reclaimed wood and steel desks. Adjacent are expansive glass fronted offices that promote openness and transparency between staff and leadership.
NELSON was also retained to provide design consultation services for The Tie Bar’s first Chicago retail store location in Lincoln Park. NELSON worked with The Tie Bar team to create a hip, urban, and immersive retail experience that evoked similar design qualities to their office headquarters environment.
