Richard Waite charged with animal cruelty
A 26-year-old New Hampshire man is accused of drowning his ex-girlfriend's two pet lizards. The Telegraph of Nashua reports Richard Waite was arrested Sunday after officers were called for a domestic disturbance. He's currently on probation from an assault case. Police say Waite drowned two lizards known as bearded dragons and released a parakeet from his ex-girlfriend's apartment. Authorities say the Nashua man is charged with animal cruelty, resisting arrest and related offenses. Police allege that he smashed a TV screen, shattered a 40-pound fish tank and ripped a bathroom door off its hinges. Waite told a judge during his arraignment Monday that he suffers from a severe medical condition. He did not have a lawyer.
