Michael Shannon has finally come out clean and confessed about his role as General Zod and the origin of the character having flipper hands in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

Fans, who have been curiously figuring out the whats and hows about General Zod's flippers-for-hands rumour, can now relax. The Oscar-nominated actor has made it clear that Zod will not have flipper hands in the 2016 film.

The "Man of Steel" actor had got everyone talking when he had recently said: "I was in my costume, and I couldn't use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands."

But now, Michael Shannon, in his recent interview with The Daily Beast, while promoting "99 Homes" has admitted that he was joking about the flipper hand story.

"I wasn't there. It's a really awkward situation—I'm in the trailer for a movie that I didn't work on," Shannon said.

"Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous bulls--t answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete bulls--t story, right? But people took it seriously," Shannon added.

But Shannon did say that he provided voice-over for "Dawn of Justice". "I went over and did some voice-over stuff because it's like that ghost thing. But I don't know if I'm supposed to say that. I get very nervous," he said.

And just before he ended his interview, Shannon joked about the flipper-hands. "Maybe they should add it, I don't know! Maybe in Part 3 Doomsday will have flipper hands. I mean, look, nothing would make me happier than to work with [director] Zack [Snyder] again. He's hysterical and he's a lot of fun to work with," he concluded.

Well, but let's admit that Michael Shannon did get the Internet and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" fans flipping over his General Zod's flipper-hand comment.
