The much-awaited extension of the ITO-Badarpur violet line up to Escort Mujeser in Faridabad, will finally come into being from September 6.

With this, the satellite city of Faridabad will be the second city of Haryana after Gurgaon, which will connect with the national Capital through the Delhi metro.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this extended violet line covering 13.875 km comprising nine metro stations, falling within the perimeter of Faridabad.

According to the DMRC spokesperson, though the PMO has given confirmation about PM Narendra Modi's presence at the do, the station for the flag off has not been finalised yet. Following inauguration of the Faridabad metro, the PM will address a gathering in a rally at the Sector 12 ground in the city.

"The construction work of this project is almost complete. Only a few final touches are underway. The managing director of DMRC, Mangu Singh, had inspected the metro line on August 27 and has given the nod to open this stretch for the general public," said a spokesperson of DMRC.

The starting of the metro line on this route would largely reduce the traffic volume of Faridabad. DMRC is expecting more than 2.2 lakh passengers from Delhi and Faridabad to use this stretch.
