MK Stalin takes a dig at Jayalalithaa on land bill
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa should apologise to the people for her party voting in favour of amendments to the Land Acquisition Act in the Lok Sabha, said DMK treasurer M K Stalin on Monday . Stalin said the BJP government promulgated an ordinance to amend the act but then yielded to pressure from various regional parties, including ally Akali Dal and allowed the ordinance to lapse. But AIADMK, to cozy up to the NDA, betrayed farmers' interests, he said.

The ruling party took an about turn and opposed the amendments to block it in Rajya Sabha only when the opposition to the legislation grew louder, said Stalin. He also called upon the state government to come out with facts and figures regarding the announcements and promises made by Jayalalithaa on the floor of the House.
