Telugu Desam Party, YSRC create ruckus in Assembly

CM warned that he would not ‘tolerate it’ if the Opposition leader ‘crosses his limits.’
Hyderabad: A war of words over special category status between TD and YSRC led to disorder on the first day of the Assembly session, forcing Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao to adjourn the House for the day.
YSRC MLAs rushed to the podium several times and stalled proceedings while TD members shouted slogans against the Opposition party.
In the House and outside, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Opposition leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy traded allegations.
The YSRC chief said he would resign if anyone proved that the statement of Mr Naidu on the special category status and his speech on this issue were one and the same.
The CM warned that he would not ‘tolerate it’ if the Opposition leader ‘crosses his limits.’
Immediately after the Assembly began on Monday, the Speaker announced the adjournment motion given by the YSRC on special category status.
When Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy raised the issue, the Speaker said that the government had come forward to give a statement and was ready to discuss it and and pass a resolution. Mr Reddy said the Assembly must pass a resolution and the TD should withdraw its ministers from the Centre to strengthen the resolution.
Mr Naidu said that some people were attempting suicide because of the delay in getting special status and the House must appeal to the people in one voice not to take desperate measures.
The YSRC chief held Mr Naidu and the BJP responsible for these suicides.
He also alleged that Mr Naidu was responsible for the death of 29 devotees in a stampede at the Rajahmundry Pushkar Ghat during the Pushkaralu.
To this Mr Naidu reacted saying, “Your party (YSRC) is for killing people where as our party is for the protection of the people.”
