Kai Bird Inks Deal for Jimmy Carter Biography

By Maryann Yin

Biographer Kai Bird (GalleyCat)Kai Bird, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, has signed a deal with the Crown Publishing Group. Bird plans to write a biography profiling President Jimmy Carter.

Here’s more from The New York Times: “This will not be Mr. Bird’s first time writing about the former president. Twenty-five years ago, he wrote about Mr. Carter for The Nation, describing him as ‘the very model of an ex-president.’ Since leaving the White House in 1981, Mr. Carter has remained in the public eye as an author and rallying voice of numerous political causes.”

In the past, Bird (pictured, via) has written biographical books on CIA operative Robert Ames, physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, and U.S. presidential adviser John J. McCloy. At this point in time, no release date has been set for Bird’s Jimmy Carter book. Recently, the former U.S. commander-in-chief has been in the news because he is undergoing treatment for cancer. (via Kai Bird’s website)
