Children got a chance to display their imagination and artistic skills at a workshop on preparation of eco-friendly clay Ganesh models held here on Sunday by the Praxis Foundation.

After the artists provided tips on creating Ganesh idols using the clay, children designed idols in different ways, exhibiting their creative skills. A boy designed a Ganesh in a sitting posture while a girl designed a nine-headed Ganesh. The workshop was organised at the Rotary West School here.

The Praxis Foundation organised the 15-day workshop to train children and adults on the preparation of eco-friendly clay Ganesh models, without using paints or other chemicals.

Jayaramaiah of Kukkaralli Lake Protection Committee inaugurated the workshop, jointly organised by the foundation and the Pollution Control Board. Ramakrishna of the foundation said that the workshop was organised to encourage the people of Mysuru to make environment-friendly choices and help sustain the city’s ranking as the cleanest in India.

Mr. Ramakrishna said that similar workshops would be held in other schools, and other residential localities to help people to prepare the clay models instead of buying the chemical-laced idols at the market during Ganesh Chaturti. Materials were provided by the foundation. Apart from creating environmental awareness, the workshop would bring out creative skills among children and inculcate imagination among them, he said.
