Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday mocked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and said that a party that cannot handle four MPs should not think of handling Punjab or the country.
The Chief Minister’s reaction comes a day after AAP suspended two of its MPs, Harinder Singh Khalsa and Dharamvir Gandhi, for “anti-party activities”.
“Although it is an internal matter of AAP, it is a pity that a party that dreams of winning the Punjab Assembly polls in 2017 cannot handle its MPs. It is a mockery to talk about forming a government in Punjab,” said Badal while presiding over the first death anniversary of senior Akali leader Jagdev Singh Talwandi at Tahliana Sahib in Raikot on Sunday.
The chief minister said Jathedar Talwandi was probably the only political leader who had served the state socially, politically and even religiously by being the president of Shiromani Akali Dal and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee besides being an MP and MLA.
Badal announced that a Skill Development Centre would be set up in Bassian Kothi Memorial in memory of Talwandi.
Badal said he would meet PM Modi on Monday. “Various issues related to Punjab remain to be discussed,” he said.
