Let them eat dust!
The Kardashian clan continues to have green lawns in the midst of a record California drought and defiantly refuses to cut back their water usage.
The story is “boring and stupid,” said Ina Treciokas, a spokeswoman for Kim Kardashian. “I don’t think celebrity water usage is making a dent in the fight against the drought.”
The Post last week took pictures of the Calabasas estates of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, which are oases of lush grass and full swimming pools in brown shrubland.
Sibling Kylie Jenner, who recently bought a home nearby her half-sisters, was cited and ticketed for water wasting — twice. Citations are set up by a combination of neighbor complaints and meter readings.
But the fine is tiny — just $100.
Jeff Reinhart, a spokesman for the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, said others are cooperating. “The vast majority is obviously complying, our water usage was down 37 percent over June 2013,” he said.
Kim Kardashian cannot be fined because her new Hidden Hills estate with Kanye West was just built and there is no water use to compare with past years.
Other celebrities have responded to online shame, however. Always one for plastic enhancements, Hugh Hefner appears to have replaced some of his grass at the Playboy Mansion with artificial turf.
