Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari visited a riverside guesthouse at Undavalli on Saturday, setting off speculation on the purpose of her visit.
The guesthouse, belonging to industrialist Lingamaneni Ramesh, a close friend of Mr. Naidu, has been readied for the Chief Minister’s stay when he is in this region. Sources said Ms. Bhuvaneswari went to the guesthouse alone around 10 a.m. and spent the day performing a puja.
While some said it was a house-warming ritual, a TDP source said it was a routine puja. Mr. Naidu joined his wife in the puja.
Vaastu corrections
Sources said Ms. Bhuvaneswari had earlier visited the place quietly along with vastu experts. The visit was followed up with some vaastu corrections. “The guesthouse is ready and Mr. Naidu may shift here soon. His family will stay put in Hyderabad while Ms. Bhuvaneswari may shuttle between Hyderabad and Vijayawada,” said the source.
The guesthouse is less than 10 km from Vijayawada. It is among 13 structures initially identified for the Chief Minister’s residence in Tadepalli revenue limits.
It was also identified as an unauthorised structure by the Revenue Department which served notices on the owners a few months back. The owners, however, said they constructed the building only after securing the required permissions from the revenue authorities and the Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri - Urban Development Authority (VGTM-UDA) .
But experts maintain that most of the identified structures still face action as these agricultural lands have not been converted for commercial, residential and industrial purposes. Under the Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Land (Conversion for Non-Agricultural Purpose) Act (NALA) 2006, farm land can be converted to commercial, industrial and residential purposes only by taking a no-objection certificate from the revenue divisional officer.
