Nani rejects Taapsee’s multilingual project
South star Taapsee Pannu’s multilingual project has run into trouble in Telugu, as the film-makers have not been able to zero in on the male lead.

Recently, the film-makers approached the young and talented actor Nani to romance Taapsee on the big screen, but he turned down the offer.

A female-oriented script, the movie will be made simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. Though the hero (Chetan) for the Kannada version has been locked, the producers are finding it difficult to cast a suitable male star opposite Taapsee in Telugu and Tamil.
“As the script portrays the female lead as the protagonist, A-list actors in Telugu and Tamil may not find it interesting. The movie will not add any value to their career. The producers have to settle for actors, who are not in the A-list. But Taapsee may not find it comfortable to act opposite lesser known stars.

They are in discussion with a few actors in Telugu. But Nani turning down the project is a setback for the film-makers,” a leading casting director in Hyderabad, said.

Apparently, the producers have already paid Taapsee an advance amount towards remuneration of the project, which was announced two months ago. If everything does not fall into place in the next one month, the financial viability of the project will become unmanageable. The movie is being directed by Kannada film director Nagashekar and he has less time on hands.
“Initially, Nani had shown interest in the project but he was in two minds after listening to the script. He cannot be playing second fiddle… He has already romanced superstar Samantha Prabhu in one such project (Eega). Now, he is an established star. He can let go off this latest project,” sources close to the actor, said.
Nani is busy shooting for his Telugu movie Bale Bale Magadivoy, which is being directed by the immensely talented Maruthi Dasari, who has also written the story. Geeta Arts is producing the movie in association with UV Creations. Nani has high hopes from this project, as movies directed by Maruthi have become trendsetters in Tollywood. It looks like Nani is not ready to take a risk at this juncture of his career. Nani has another Telugu movie Chicchaa, which will be ready for release in 2016.
