Irrfan Khan: I thought I looked just like Mithun Chakraborty

Tonight on The A'nupam Kher Show —Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai' at 8pm on Colors, Irrfan will be seen revealing his struggling years to viewers.
Part of a feudal family, Irrfan shared how he many times accompanied his father for hunting to the jungles. But, eager to pursue acting, Irrfan procured admission at the National School of Drama. He admitted how at the start of his career, people commented on his lack of ability to act.
He shared another incident when he landed a role in Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay. He even underwent a workshop to prepare himself months before shooting began, but sadly, he was turned down.

The actor started his career on television, with an aim to get into films. In fact, Irrfan revealed that at the beginning of his career, he believed that he looked like Mithun Chakraborty. The actor even tried to dress like him. But soon, he received acclaim for films like 'Warrior' and 'Paan Singh Tomar'.
When Anupam Kher mentioned that the movie is one of his favourite films, Irrfan revealed that he had based his character on his father who had been a strong influence in his life.
Irrfan added that people many times read his quiet nature as synonymous to having an ego, which he has tried to change. With many stories of his ups and downs, Irrfan’s journey is a touching one.
