'Man of Steel 2' put on hold indefinitely

While Superman fans rejoiced for the release of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," they may be sobbing now if they hear the latest news about "Man of Steel." Apparently, the part two of "Man of Steel" is going to be put to the backseat for some time after reports suggest that the Superman movie has been put on "permanent" hold at Warner Bros Entertainment.

The information was sighted at Den of Geek in which the source revealed that the list of DC Extended Universe films does not include "Man of Steel 2." The only ones confirmed includes "Dawn of Justice," "Suicide Squad," "Wonder Woman," "Justice League," and "The Flash." It also reported that filmmaker Jon Schnepp confirmed that the director of "Mad Max: Fury Road" George Miller would direct the sequel movie. "George Miller is doing Man Of Steel 2," Schnepp said during one episode of Popcorn Talk.

However, the site revealed that Warner Bros has put the film on hold because of plans to create a trilogy of "Batman" movies with Ben Affleck. This could potentially signify there's a chance that the film may never be able to see the light of day again as the bosses may have no plans in producing another standalone flick. The fate of "Superman" movie may end up like the Hulk of the DC Universe.

For now, fans of the American cultural icon will just have to settle for catching Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming ensemble projects, according to Digital Trends. Actor Henry Cavill will be appearing as Superman in "Dawn of Justice (2016)," "Justice League Part One (2017)," and "Justice League Part 2" (2019). Cavill's schedule is also full with other projects like "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."

It's too early to tell the future of the superhero movie. Some sources say that Miller is still working on something for Warner. It was even said that he can choose whichever superhero he wants. Will he possibly still choose the Man of Steel? Fans will have to keep their fingers crossed on this one.
