Rins smashes Moto2 record in FP3

Alex Rins smashed the Moto2 unofficial track record at Silverstone to lead the way from his former Moto3 rival Alex Marquez. The Spaniard’s were comfortably quicker than Tito Rabat with Johann Zarco and Sam Lowes within half a second.

Lowes told MCN on Friday that he’d spend this morning on old tyres so having been rooted at the bottom of the top ten it was clear that he was focusing on his race pace for tomorrow but in the final five minutes he jumped to fifth and should be a contender for pole position at his home Grand Prix.
