ZAMBIA’S rally ace, Jassy Singh will this weekend be targeting to upstage Kenyan, Jaspreet Chatthe at the 2015 V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally in Uganda in the race for the FIA Africa Rally Championship (ARC).
JASSY singhJassy, the 2013 winner, is searching for his second continental crown and he is currently second to Chatthe on the ARCH standings and will this weekend be up against 37 other drivers when the race starts at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi.
The competition, that commences today, will run through the weekend to August 30.
Jassy said in an interview from Uganda that beating Chatthe was part of his main goal at this competition.
“We are racing in the coffee plantations so we do hope that we do not encounter other road users during the event. If we do not then definitely we are looking at a good top position and we have to beat the Kenyans here,” he said.
Jassy added that: “With very nice twist and technical stages, I am more than ready; just saying my big thank you to VS Cargo and Samfuel who have sponsored my team to come and participate and push for the African Championship.”
Ivory Cost, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and Zambia are the seven countries that will be present at this rally.
Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) vice-president Sam Ching’ambu said the association was confident that Jassy would perform well at the Pearl of Africa Rally.
For ARC title, Jassy, who recently competed in the Rwanda Rally, will also participate in the Madagascar International Rally in November.
