At a time when even couples don't know the code to unlock each other's phones, director Raj Chakrabarty has free access to the phones of both Koushani Mukherjee and Bonny Sengupta, the leads of his upcoming film, Parbona Ami Charte Toke (PACT), produced by Shree Venkatesh Films. When we met the team for a chat, we found Raj fiddling with their phones. This was possible because the trust and bonding between the three of them was really great, explained Raj.
Excerpts from a chat...
Tell us about the film.
Raj: This is a unique love story , where childhood buddies who used to be neighbours, realize their love for each other when the girl is about to get married. They had become very dependent on each other but had never understood how love had bloomed. I still remember how I used to like a girl in our para who was older than me, but couldn't express my feelings as I was scared of getting rejected.
Koushani: It is such a heart-warming story. As Shibu (Bonny) and Aparna (Koushani) grow up, they keep fighting most of the time, but at heart, they are the best of friends. The families are unequal in terms of financial status. Aparna's family is well off while Shibu works hard to support his mother. He takes pleasure in playing pranks on Aparna, while she has her own ways of taking revenge. To tease Aparna, Shibu starts flirting with Kabita.Shibu's plan works and Aparna gets irritated. To take revenge, Aparna starts a relationship with a crook named Aditya and gets trapped.Bonny: It is then that they realize their love for each other, though their families are against this match. Meanwhile, Aparna's family fixes her marriage with someone else. But they can't stay without each other.
Ego played a major role in Aparna and Shibu's relationship. So, how egoistic are you three in real life?
R: The para girl I told you about, I saw her a few days back with her kids (laughs). Your ego takes you many steps backwards, so I've managed to subdue it.
K: Ego is a sign of immaturity . It was one of the reasons why my relationship broke up. But now my ego has taken a back seat.

B: I am not the egoistic type at all.
Raj, is it true that your producer told you to make the lead pair fall in love so that their chemistry sparkles on screen?

R: Oh yes! My producer told me, that to shoot a successful love story , you either have to make the lead pair fall in love, or the director should fall in love with the heroine. In Chirodini... Rahul and Priyanka fell in love and the film was a superhit. And I am an eternal loverboy . How do you think I make passionate love stories?
So, what happened in Prem Amar, a love story that starred Paayel Sarkar?
R: (After a pause) It was a beautiful love story... but can we talk about PACT? Let me share an interesting fact with you -we had even connected Koushani and Bonny's makeup vans so that they could gel well. Bonny has a boy-next-door look, which I am sure would work wonders on screen and Koushani will light up the screen with her presence and acting.
So, who is that special one to whom you can say 'parbona ami charte toke'?
R: Well, I am not single and much in love. So I can't leave that special person in my life.
K: (Blushes) Parbo na ami charte tomake, Rajda. He is the one who spotted and motivated me into act ing. He is known to launch new faces like Rahul, Priyanka, Nusrat, Bonny and now me. B: I have an endless list of girlfriends, so I can't let go of them as I don't want to hurt any one (winks). On a serious note, it is Raj Chakra barty, who laun ched me as an actor.
