Robert De Niro — who’s headlined his fair share of mob classics, including “The Godfather Part II,” “Goodfellas,” “Casino” and “Analyze This” — never saw a single episode of “The Sopranos.”
“I assume you watch TV,” Marvin Shanken, editor of Cigar Aficionado, asks De Niro in the magazine’s October issue after warning, “I’ve done quite a few interviews. I’ve never worked so hard preparing for you.”
“Not much, but it depends,” De Niro says of his TV viewing.
Shanken: “Did you ever watch ‘The Sopranos?’ ”
De Niro: “No.”
Shanken: “Interesting. So my next question . . . ”
De Niro adds of David Chase’s HBO series, “I heard about it. It was very good.”
