D. Srinivas takes charge, asks Naidu to resolve issues

His first priority was to develop good relations with the neighbouring states
Hyderabad: D. Srinivas, the newly-appointed adviser to the government on inter-state affairs, said his first priority was to develop good relations with the neighbouring states, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka, and resolve disputes with them.
He asked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to take steps to resolve issues with Telangana. He said there were several issues apart from irrigation like division of High Court, distribution of assets and government employees.
Referring to the people of Seemandhra origin living in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, he said though the Chief Minister had given all assurances regarding their safety and security, some leaders were still trying to create fear in them.
“I don’t want to call them settlers. They are part and parcel of Telangana. But some people are creating a fear psychosis in them. The CM has given all the assurances, they have all reconciled and adjusted to the new state, which some people don’t like,” he alleged.
“We have disputes with Maharashtra on irrigation issues and with Karnataka. We have a power purchase agreement with Chhattisgarh. We need to create a congenial environment and move forward with a positive approach to solve the issues. Every state has its own interests. With my contacts I am confident these issues could be solved amicably and legally,” he said.
Mr Srinivas, who assumed charge on Friday, said for six decades governments had taken up works which flouted Central guidelines. “We need to settle the issues amicably and not complicate them,” he said. He said CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao had bestowed confidence in him and he would see that all issues with neighbouring states were resolved.
