Government carries out top-level changes in bureaucracy

Top-level bureaucratic changes, including a new Budget team comprising Shaktikanta Das as economic affairs secretary, Hasmukh Adhia as revenue secretary and Anjuly Chib Duggal as financial services secretary, were cleared by the appointments committee of the Cabinet on Friday.

NEW DELHI: Top-level bureaucratic changes, including a new Budget team comprising Shaktikanta Das as economic affairs secretary, Hasmukh Adhia as revenue secretary and Anjuly Chib Duggal as financial services secretary, were cleared by the appointments committee of the Cabinet on Friday.

Duggal will be replaced by Tapan Ray as secretary, corporate affairs. Das was holding the post of revenue secretary and will take charge after current economic affairs secretary Rajiv Mehrishi retires in a few days.
Adhia, a Gujarat cadre officer, will replace Das as revenue secretary. Duggal is a 1981 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre and Tapan Ray is from Gujarat cadre, Senior IAS officer Sunil Arora was also appointed as information and broadcasting secretary succeeding Bimal Julka whose tenure ends on Monday.
