Work smart, says Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar

MLA thanks the state and Central governments for smart tag to city

Warangal: Expressing thankfulness to the state and Central governments for including Warangal in the list of Smart Cities, Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar said that it is now up to the people to ensure the city makes it to the first phase of the cities to be developed. “On behalf of the people of Warangal, I thank Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Union urban development minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Naren-dra Modi for including Warangal in the Smart Cities list. But there is a need to keep our city clean and green and everyone should pay taxes and make Waran-gal 100 per cent tax payers city. Every citizen should take this up as their personal responsibility. The state government is taking steps to make Warangal a slum-free city. We have to make more efforts to develop the city on the sanitation front,” he said.

If Warangal gets selected in the first phase of the mission, the city will receive Rs 200 crore every year as part of the scheme. Mr Vinay Bhaskar said so far project reports worth Rs 1,612 crore for the underground drainage system in Greater Warangal, Rs 217 crore for providing drinking water facility to every household in the purview of Greater Warangal and Rs 10 crore for developing roads, construction of cycling track and bus shelters were sent.

According to the guidelines of the Smart Cities Mission the core infrastructure elements in a Smart City would include adequate water supply, assured electricity supply, sanitation, including solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, affordable housing, especially for the poor, robust IT connectivity and digitalisation, good governance, especially e-Governance, citizen participation, sustainable environment, safety and security of citizens, particularly women, children and the elderly, and health and education.
