Police have issued a public warning about a high-risk sex offender who moved to Vancouver after being released from prison.

Michael Wayne Carpenter, 44, served eight years for sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, and threatening to cause death or bodily harm.

He is believed to be a risk of significant harm to both underage girls and women, according to police.

“Carpenter has multiple sexual assault convictions, many of those included attacks on hotel employees,” Const. Brian Montague said in a statement.

The convict was released under a long-term supervision order and is subject to a number of conditions, including that he not consume, purchase or possess any drugs or alcohol or be in the presence of any females under the age of 18.

Carpenter is also barred from buying or owning or possessing pornography or sexually explicit material and using or possessing a computer or any other device that can access the Internet.

He must report all friendships, sexual relationships and intimate relationships with women as well.

Carpenter’s described as white, 5-9 tall, 180 lbs. with brown shaved hair and blue eyes. Anyone who sees him breaking any of his conditions is asked to call 911 immediately.
