Spend the day with your four-legged friend at Pooch-A-Palooza at the Topsfield Fairgrounds on Sept. 5 and 6 next weekend. This party for humans and dogs alike will feature a variety of pet-supply vendors as well as a dog-exclusive Pooch Spa and Pooch Game Zone. Tickets are $10 for one day and $15 for two. Children 12 and under are free and dogs are $1 per pooch. Proceeds will be donated to Cape Ann Animal Aid . For more information and tickets, visit www.pooch-a-palooza.org.

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport is accepting submissions for its 2015 Nature and Wildlife Photography Contest now through Oct. 2. Those who wish to enter may submit prints in either the wildlife or landscapes/seascape categories. Winners will be announced at the annual Phabulous Photo Weekend from Oct. 16 to Oct. 18, and winning entries will be displayed at the visitors’ center for the next year. Join Daniel Korschun and Grant Welker for a talk on their book, “We Are Market Basket,” this Thursday at the Peabody Institute Library in Danvers. The book profiles the grass-roots movement that formed last year after Market Basket CEO Arthur T. Demoulas was ousted by the company board. Register online at www.danverslibrary.org/?page_id=8042. People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts says $163,750 will be awarded to 25 nonprofits in the Boston area. The YMCA of the North Shore in Beverly received $25,000. Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport and Community YMCA of Danvers each received a grant of $15,000. Beverly Bootstraps Community Services and the Landmark School of Beverly, Citizens for Adequate Housing in Peabody, and the North Shore Habitat for Humanity First Street project in Ipswich each received $10,000.
