Congress leaders in Himachal Pradesh organised a protest against the rising onion prices.

Himachal Pradesh Congress workers on Friday staged a protest against the rising onion prices and criticised the NDA government for having failed to curb the price rise .

Congress leaders from various parts of the state organised a sit-in protest in Shimla and across the state.The party leaders shouted slogans against the NDA government for not fulfilling its election promise to control the prices of onions . The Congress leaders said that onions are an essential commodity but the current prices has made it difficult for a common man to buy it.

"The onion prices which were Rs 18 per kg in 2014 have skyrocketed now .Onions are being sold between Rs 80 to Rs 100 in various parts of the state. BJP had promised during the general elections that it will bring down the prices but the same has been forgotten now," Himachal Pradesh Congress President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said.

Addressing party workers Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that BJP formed the government by promising 'Good Days' but the rising prices of essential commodities including pulses and vegetables have actually spelled bad days for a common man.He said that the prices of pulses have gone up by 50 to 70 percent after BJP formed the government in New Delhi.

Later a delegation led by HPCC President Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu submitted a memorandum to the President of India Pranab Mukherjee through Himachal Governor Acharya Dev Vrat Sharma.
