Minister for Industries Jupally Krishna Rao expressed serious concern over pollution being released by industrial units in the district and directed officials of the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to prepare a list of such industries and submit a report in a week.
Presiding over a review meeting here on Thursday, Mr. Krishna Rao said that the pollution was heavy at Pashamylaram industrial area and there was an urgent need to control it.
He said that action would be initiated against those responsible for creating pollution. He also urged the industries to take up activities under Corporate Social Responsibility.
Informing that the district already has 1,533 industries with an investment of Rs. 1,314 crore, the Minister said that about 28,000 people were employed by these industries. Informing that 76 industries out of 79 that had applied were issued permissions under TSIPASS, he said the permissions were issued within a stipulated period of 30 days.
Referring to the complaint by some of the industrialists that some of the small industries were closed due to lack of orders from BHEL, the Minister said that the issue would taken to the notice of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Stating that a National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) would come up at Zaheerabad, the Minister said that it would be a cluster of industries which would provide employment to many. “Lot of employment opportunities are coming up for the youth and they should be skilled to work in those industries.
As part of that, we are commencing skill development training for 1,000 ITI passed students from October 15 at TSIIC,” he said.
Lok Sabha member B.B. Patil, Collector Rahul Bojja, MLA Chinta Prabhakar, Collector Ronald Ross, TSIIC General Manager Narasimha Reddy, Industries Commissioner Manik Raj and others were present.
