After Burger King rejected McDonald's offer to collaborate in honour of World Peace Day by making a McWhopper, it seems they changed their mind and decided to go all out to now get McDonald's to combine forces and give customers an epic burger.

In a grand gesture, Burger King published a full-page, open letter-style ad in The New York Times and Chicago Tribune, that said "We know we've had our petty differences, but how about we call a ceasefire on these so-called 'burger war'? The letter continues, "We'd like to propose a one-off collaboration between Burger King and McDonald's to create something special."

However, McDonalds is having none of it and rejected the proposal.  McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook, responded to Burger King on Facebook, saying they decided to decline the offer and the "two brands could do something bigger to make a difference." Adding," let's acknowledge that between us there is simply a friendly business competition and certainly not the unequaled circumstances of the real pain and suffering of war."

It seems the rejection didn't sit well for some of the customer, who seem very disappointed that there won't be a McWhopper on World Peace day. Here are some of the Facebook posts from customers:

While Burger King may have initially rejected the idea too soon, they did try to make it real easy for McDonald's to say yes, by pretty much taking care of every detail of the collaboration.
