Kraft Heinz Co (KHC) is recalling more than two million pounds of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon as it may prematurely spoil and on reports of people becoming unwell after eating certain items.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said that about 2.07 million pounds of Kraft's Oscar Mayer turkey bacon may be adulterated and it may spoil before the 'Best When Used By' date.

The turkey bacon was produced between the dates May 31 and August 6 of this year and were exported nationwide as well as to the Bahamas and St. Martin.

The recalled product includes:

- 56 oz. cardboard boxes branded Oscar Mayer "Selects Uncured Turkey Bacon" with the plant number P-9070, the line number RS19 and Product UPC 0 4470007633 0

- 36 oz. cardboard boxes branded Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon "Smoked Cured Turkey Chopped and Formed" with the plant number P-9070, the line number RS19 and Product UPC 0 7187154874 8

- 48 oz. cardboard boxes branded Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon "Smoked Cured Turkey Chopped and Formed" with the plant number P-9070, the line number RS19 and Product UPC 0 7187154879 3.

According to the USDA, the problem was discovered by Kraft Heinz after the company received spoilage-related customer complaints.

The recall was rated at Class II, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, meaning there was a "remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product."

The turkey bacon recall is the third product recall for Kraft Heinz this year. In August, the company recalled 36,000 cases of Singles cheese slices after customers reported choking on the plastic wrapping. And in March, the company recalled 242,000 cases of original flavor Macaroni & Cheese dinners on concerns the boxes may contain small metal pieces.
